EMIR OF KANO: Utilize Your Wealth In Educating Girls, Not Building Mosques.


In line against the campaign of early marriage, the Emir of Kano Mallam Mohamad Sanusi II on Thursday called on the wealthy men to reduce the rate at which Mosques are constructed in the North. He said that instead of building, such funds can be used to imbibe more knowledge into young growing girls about the dangers involve in in early marriage.

The Emir reportedly stated that " if anyone desire to assist Kano State, do not make request to build N300 million mosque in the State; the State have more than enough mosques". Its better to go and educate village growing girls than wasting funds.

The call was made at Bayero University, Kano State, organised by the Institute of Islamic Banking and Finance, marking the 3rd international conference on Islamic banking and finance. He reportedly stated that he is fed-up of people coming base on the platform of constructing Mosques while many Families are ignorant about the negative effect of rushing into early marriage.

According to Sanusi, between the age of 18 to 20 gets involve in such act which deny them of solid education. Possible outcome of early marriage: divorce, death, lack of knowledge in raising a home e.tc. If the statistics of early marriage is considered; girls who get pregnant from 15 years downward are likely to die five times the girls from 20 years above.

Furthermore, its better to join hands together totally stop early marriages in this great country Nigeria, than trying to be religious.
