Gambia Leader Decided To Step Down From Power
On Saturday, the former President of Gambia, Yahya Jammeh who had ruled Gambia for 22 years made the decision to step down followed by the last talk conversation between the African leaders before forceful intervention of the military.
Speaking for hours with the President of Guinea and Mauritania in Banju on Friday came to a final conclusion, assuring them that he will step-down for Adama Barrow, who won the 2016 Presidential roll.
According to Yayha Jammeh, he reportedly stated on TV that " I have decided today in good conscience to relinquish the mantle of leadership of this great nation with infinite gratitude to all Gambians". He decided to leave the office after weeks of pressure from other neighbouring countries. More also, agreement have been made where he will stay after he vacates office.
Therefore, securities will be alert round the clock to ensure that he leave the office for the new elect as he once declared immediately after the election conducted.
A high ranking source from Guinea said that the out-going President have to vacate to exile, far away from the country so as not to interfere with the running of the Gambia's government. The source stated countries like Morocco or if possible Equatorial Guinea.
