No Religion Will Be Legislated, Says Saraki


Religion is referred to as a system of beliefs, practices and values con­cerned with the sacred. It is related to supernatural entities and powers which are considered as the ultimate concern of all earthly existence among human groups.

Human being basically deal with the social effects of religious beliefs and practices. In other words, they analysis of religion is concerned with how religious beliefs and practices are effective in society, how they affect interaction among per­sons of different religious faiths, how they lead to conflicts and riots e.t.c.

The following are the kinds of questions addressed by individuals of different relig­ion:
  • How does religion reinforce the collective unity, through religious worship and rituals?. How does religion block the emotional and intellectual development of people?.
  • How is a particular type of economic system is when ever it is been controlled by a religious person?
  • Is one religion more tolerant than an­other religion?
  • What is the effect on a person’s way of life of being religiously described?
  • Does religion oppose family planning measures?
Abubakar Bukola Saraki, the Senate president, has assured Nigerians that the Senate will not pass any law against the fundamental rights or freedom of religious practice of Nigerians. He noted this at the closing ceremony of the 31st National Qur’anic competition, in Ilorin, enjoined all religious leaders to use the word of God to spread love, unity and peace.

“We should tolerate and have harmonious relationship and understanding amongst ourselves,” he said.
The Senate president urged Nigerians to pray for the quick recovery of President Muhammad Buhari in order to continue to lead the nation.

“In his address, the governor of Kwara State, Dr. Abdulfatah Ahmed, said the use of religion to perpetuate acts of violence was unfortunate given the emphasis placed on peace and justice by both Islam and Christianity”.
