“Mr. Sylvester Uhaa, the Country Director of Citizens for United Rehabilitation of Errants reportedly stated at about 47,817 in mates awaits trail in the Nigeria prison out of the total number of 69,200 detainees during a small meeeting held in Benue State for criminal, composed by his organization in partnership with the Benue State high court, makurdi”.

 

The Director cried out that many datinees had stayed on pre-trial longer than convict which they will spend more time if convicted respectively.

 

Uhaa lamented that as a result of such, the prisons have become over-crowded and stretched leading to the introduction of different kinds of diseases and criminal attitdude whic has a big influence on the inmates, families and society at large. Also, there are no much rehabilitation centers in the prisons.

 

As a result of over-population, it often creates an avenue of breakouts; this situation is a of which if it explodes, no matter yout hiding place, you can be found.

Futhermore, he urges the President to look into the situations in the Nigeria prison so as to develop a working principle that can be used to kick-in positive change into the prison service so as to bring an end to congestion in the prison service and the diseases carried-out after serving jail times.
